Wide calf compression socks are designed to fit people with larger than average calves. 

To determine calf circumference, measure around the widest part of your calf.  Then compare that measurement to the size chart for the specific brand of compression stockings you plan to purchase.  Every brand of stocking is sized differently.

To determine the widest part of your calf, from a seated position, rest your foot on a chair or table and relax your leg.  Press up on your calf muscle with the palm of your hand.  It should be easy to see the widest point.
